This week my guest on the show is a sweet, real life, teacher friend- Ginger Bordeau. Ginger and I talk about higher level questioning, first year teacher interview tips, the importance of routines in your classroom, and celebrating holidays in your classroom….just to name a few!
Intentional Lesson Planning
I invited Ginger to be a guest on Simply Teach because she has been a mentor, supporter, and encourager of me since I first stepped into the teaching profession. Don’t believe me? Go listen! She was in my classroom within the first few weeks of my teaching career!
Ginger has had experience as a music teacher (little fact I DIDN’T know about her!), in multiple grade levels, as an Instructional Coach, and now as a current Assistant Principal. So, needless to say she has a ton of experience to share with listeners.
She is an expert in intentional lesson planning, creating engaging lessons, and asking higher level questions (which, let’s be honest…that’s hard!). Ginger shares practical tips for lesson planning, especially for those of you who don’t have a Year at a Glance or Curriculum Guide to use throughout the year. She also shares some interview tips for first year teachers (or, really any teacher looking for a job!).
Plus, I share my one interview tip that has never left me….You’ll have to listen to the show to hear what it is, but as a hint…it has to do with toenails. 😉
We wrap up talking about fun ways to celebrate the holidays in the classroom. And I am currently working on updating my post on Holidays Activities for the Classroom which shares a few ideas of my own!

I’d love for you to listen HERE!! I would also love it if you shared it with a teacher friend by sending it to them, positing it on your social media accounts, or saving it to Pinterest!
Sophie Hudson (the English major turned Spanish teacher) Seriously, one of my favorite authors! And, I got to meet her 🙂 You should totally read this book. It is funny, hilarious, challenging, and honest. You’ll love it!
