This week I release my very first episode of Simply Teach- a podcast for teachers! I invited my friend Elmer to be my very first guest because I knew he would have me laughing through the whole episode.

Elmer and I know each other from our college days working at ADLO (the shoe store). I follow him on all the socials because he is constantly making me laugh. Teaching is a hard job and we need to find the funny moments to keep us sane. Elmer is great at doing that!
Elmer is currently a second-grade teacher in Fort Worth ISD but has taught in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade (including and 2nd and 3rd-grade split class, which he talks about on the show.) We talk about his experience being one of the few male teachers on his campus. As well as the challenges of moving grade levels in the middle of the year and starting his first year of teaching in a first-grade classroom with students who didn’t even know how to count to ten!
I think we can all relate to the burnout Elmer talks about. He shares about his sudden realization that problems at school are not your fault or a result of you as a person. And his encouragement to choose a positive attitude each and everyday is a great reminder that teaching sometimes takes a daily choice of staying positive.
I’d love for you to have a listen HERE! And I would especially love it if you shared it with your other teacher friends!!!
